Being able to access the net for all your data and information is a marvel of modern technology. Just a few short decades ago no one dreamed of one day connecting the entire planet by computer or being able to send mail messages around the globe in seconds. First and foremost, make sure that you know something about the site from which you are considering a download. If you are attempting to download a game, video or music file, be sure that the source of the download has a verified security screen. This will ensure that there are no pirated attachments or interior viruses present. If you cannot verify this, do not download from that site.
Decide where you will be placing or downloading the file to. The file sizes – especially video and games – can be quite large, so you will need to decide where to place the downloaded files. Once you have verified the site and chosen a download destination on your PC, start the download. Many sites will allow you to specify the OS that you will be using to run the file. This is especially critical when downloading software.
Understand how your internet browser interacts with the download process.
